Information

  • For youth ages 8 to 14.
  • Writing activities and games designed to stimulate imagination and teach effective writing strategies.
  • Morning and full day sessions available.
  • Participants are grouped with others in the same age and experience range.
  • Daily schedule includes writing instruction, games, snack, and sharing.
  • Campers design and publish their own books.
  • Parents and friends are invited to listen to participants share their writing on the last day of camp.
  • Scholarships are available for low income campers.

2018 Sessions

Session One
June 11-15 Writing Rubbish (full day 9 am - 3 pm)
Take a field trip to Shoreway Environmental Center in San Carlos to learn about recycling and reusing "rubbish." Write and publish your own story inspired by an ecology theme--or your own imagination. Try different kinds of poems from free verse to rhyme.
Camp location: Taft School, 903 Tenth Ave, Redwood City

Session Two
June 18-22 Food Fantasy (morning 9 am - noon)
Learn how to make and bake pretzels—and write about the experience. Use all five senses to appreciate different foods then create evocative poetry and fiction including food imagery. Ages 8-14 years.
Camp location: Unitarian Universalist Church, 2124 Brewster Ave., Redwood City

Session Three
